Bringing with him  more than fifty years of basketball experience , Ramon  “Cholo” Martin was named Head Coach of  the senior basketball team of Arellano University , The Chiefs.

Coach Cholo  played basketball  in his high school days at the  Malate Catholic School, and was given the Outstanding Malatean  Award in sports ;  in  college he played in the San Beda team in the NCAA and contributed  to the team’s championship in the league for two years . He also played in commercial teams  after college but his basketball career  flourished in coaching  in  commercial teams here and abroad, and lately in colleges and universities. As assistant coach he worked with basketball coach luminaries  such as Nat Canson, Turo Valenzona, Francis Rodriguez, Norman Black,  Alfrancis Chua, and Boyet Fernandez.

It is interesting to note that his appointment as head coach of The Chiefs brings him full circle to  Arellano University. In 1982, barely out of college he was assigned head coach of the Arellano Flaming Arrows, AU’s varsity team at that time, earning for AU the championship in the Metro Manila and national Inter-collegiate basketball competitions. Hopefully, at the time that Arellano University will host the NCAA Season 95,   he would give The Chiefs  the championship on his return to the university.

At the moment, he is the head coach of The Pasay Voyagers in the Maharlika   Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL)

He has brought with him Yvan Ludovice and JayPee Balencion as Assistant Coaches.
