 AU DONATES SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO GAWAD KALINGA TATALON BENEFICIARIESPosted June 27, 2011

The Community Development Office (ComDev), assisted by the teaching and non-teaching personnel of Arellano University, distributed school supplies donated by the university community, to 78 Grade I pupils residing in Gawad Kalinga project sites- Blk. 245 Village and Ohio Village -in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City on June 16, 2011.
The activity is part of the continuing literacy program named Gawad Karunungan of Arellano University with the two villages, now on its fourth year of implementation. The beneficiaries are kids ages 5-8 who are given reading and writing interventions. The ComDev staff and the AU College of Education volunteers visit the pupils three times a week, using the Marungko approach in teaching the children.
In this particular occasion, the faculty members and student volunteers from the College of Business Administration, College of Computer Science and Allied Medical Services joined the non-teaching personnel coming from the Student Personnel Services Office, Main Campus library, Office of the Student Affairs, Guidance Office and the Registrar's Office. They conducted games and other fun activities with the pupils.
The Gawad Karunungan Project is headed by ComDev OIC Andreline D. Ansula, Ms. Lerma T. Lazarte, Program Coordinator for Social Awareness Building and Ms. Analyn Aquino, Coordinator for Curriculum Integration.
