 HRM STUDENTS ACHIEVE HONORS IN INTER-SCHOOL CONTESTPosted September 25, 2009

The students of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management of AU Main Campus reaped awards in the National Food Showdown 2009 held at the A. Venue Events Hall in Makati City on September 4-5, 2009. With the theme "The Making of World-Class Chefs", the nationwide competition was organized by the country's biggest TV network, ABS-CBN. A total of 37 HRM and culinary schools participated in the competitions.
The awardees included Kenneth Amarrador, silver medal for Table Setting (Wedding Theme); Kaye Anne Salomatar, silver medal for Cake Decorating (Wedding Theme); Randy de Lara, Bronze Medal for Bread Showpiece; Eunice Nicolas, Diploma for Flambe; Eric Tolentino, Diploma for Cold Dessert; and Vincent Balaga for Petit Fours.
In the recent years, the Hotel and Restaurant Management course has become the university's most popular course, next to nursing, manifesting the growing need for manpower in food service and tourism industries. It is now being offered in the five branches of Arellano University: AU Main, AU Pasay, AU Pasig, AU Malabon and staring this school year, AU Mandaluyong.
Dean Christi M. Aldave, Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism at the Main Campus and selected faculty and students of the college witnessed the contests and awarding ceremonies.
