AU PLARIDEL HIGH EMERGES AS DANCE CHAMPIONPosted November 05, 2008
The AUPC Street Knights, a dance group composed of students at Arellano University Plaridel High School in Mandaluyong, emerged as the champion in the recently concluded “U.P. BEAT: Lubdub Inter-High School Street Dance Challenge.
Ms. Grizelda B. Roxas, student affairs coordinator of AU Plaridel High School, disclosed in a letter to AU Marketing Vice President Valente V. Cayco recently.
She said Plaridel bested all of the other participating schools from Metro Manila, including the defending champion Holy Infant Montessori, who settled for the Second Place, and the best bet of New Era University, who got the Third Place.
“Our dance group was a stand out,” said Ms. Roxas.
For their performance, Plaridel’s Street Knights earned the contest judges’ approval, a trophy, a Certificate of Appreciation, and Php6,000 cash prize.
The Street Knights also emerged as champion in the AU Inter-Branch Hip Hop Dance Contest, spearheaded by the AU Office for Cultural Affairs and held in September, this school year.
“The recent competitions gave our students a chance to participate in challenging and rewarding events,” said Ms. Roxas. “Contests like this do not just enhance our students’ potentials, but they also improve our students’ personality, help establish rapport and camaraderie with students of other high schools, and enhance their self-confidence,” said Ms. Roxas.
