| The Chiefs’ Journey of Growth in Preparation for the Upcoming NCAA Season
In the Native American community, the Vision Quest is a very powerful ritual that serves as a rite of passage for young warriors. The young men on a Vision Quest use this profound journey in order to find spiritual guidance and purpose. In a Vision Quest, the young warrior or tribe member spends up to four days and nights alone—secluded in nature. In this grueling yet spiritually cleansing process, the young warrior has time to commune with the fundamental forces and spiritual energies of creation and self-identity. In other words, before the Native American boy turns into a man, he must first look deep within himself and realize that he has a purpose and destiny in life. Alone and unprotected against the harsh elements, the young warrior is able to come into his own by being at peace with his surroundings and by getting himself attuned to the realm beyond his physical senses.
