Top officials of Arellano University, headed by Chairman and CEO Francisco Paulino V. Cayco, attended the graduation of the third batch of International Nursing Program (INP) students at the Alderson Broaddus College (A-B College) in West Virginia, USA last May 12, 2012. The seven students who received their Bachelor of Science in Nursing Diploma from A-B College were Josephine Bernabe, Anna Michaela Bernardo, Diana Hyacinth Cruz, Rocello Veloso Fajardo, Ijzan Ishiwata, Carla Marie Javier and Krizzha Nicolai Recinto.
The previous day, May 11, Chairman Cayco signed a Memorandum of Agreement with President of Alderson Broaddus College Richard A. Creehan , stipulating some amendments in the original MOA between the two institutions. The occasion was attended by Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Joan L. Propst; Dean of the College of Nursing , Dr. Dawn Scheick; A-B College-INP Director Lesa Jordan and AVP for Institutional Accreditation Eric Shor. Other officers of the A-B College administration, the A-B College of Nursing faculty members, the graduating INP students and the other AU officers witnessed the MOA signing.
In the afternoon, the Senior Nursing Convocation of Class 2012 ( Pinning Ceremony ) was held at the Wilcox Chapel in the A-B College campus.
During the honorary luncheon before the graduation ceremony, Chairman Cayco and the other members of the AU group were introduced to the recipients of honorary degrees from A-B College and the officials and members of the A-B College Board of Trustees and administration; they also had the opportunity to meet the previous President of A-B College and Board Member Philip Cline and Congressman David McKinley, who have been very supportive of the International Nursing Program partnership between Alderson-Broaddus College and Arellano University.
The other officials of Arellano University who were with Chairman Cayco included Vice President for Human Resources , Atty. Frederick Dedace, Vice President for International Programs Mario Sales; AU- INP Director , Dr. Emerita Mendoza and Dr. Joaquin Venus III, INP faculty member .
Under the International Nursing Program of Arellano University which was launched in 2006, nursing students attend classes for the first three years at Arellano University and their senior year at Alderson-Broaddus College, where they are granted an American diploma and the degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After graduation, the students can apply for one year optional practical training and are eligible for employment after passing the NCLEX-RN examination.
