The Arellano University International Nursing Program (INP) held its Recognition Day last May 16, 2011 at the INP room 1. Certificates of Recognition were awarded to five students for SY 2010-2011.
Dr. Joan C. Propst, Provost/ External Vice President for Academic Affairs and Ms. Lesa L. Jordan, INP Director of Alderson Broaddus College (A-B) of West Virginia, USA were guest speakers in the event. Dr. Joan Propst was accompanied by her husband, Mr. Ben Propst.
The awardees were first year student Emelie Baldeviso, Honorable Mention for 1st and 2nd semester , school year 2010-2011 and 2nd year students Angela Asuncion, Camille Blas, Jeanine Penohermoso and Geyenne Ong Tiu, all Honorable Mention for the first semester, school year 2010-2011.
The A-B officials visited Arellano University to meet the officers of the university, the faculty members of the International Nursing Program, the INP students from all levels and their parents to discuss their concerns. They also discussed issues relevant to the transfer of AU INP students to Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia this June, 2011.
Dr. Joan Propst and Ms. Lesa L. Jordan, together with Chairman and CEO of Arellano University Francisco Paulino V. Cayco and INP OIC Dr. Emerita Mendoza, also had a meeting with the Consul General of the United States Embassy and the Head of the Non-Immigrant Visa Section of the agency.
During the meeting, the US Consul-General expressed appreciation for the visit of the International Nursing Program delegation from AU and A-B, and requested the two institutions to update his office regarding developments in the program.
The International Nursing Partnership of Arellano University with Alderson Broaddus College (A-B) is a four-year BSN program that allows students to take the first three years at the Arellano University Legarda Campus, using the American nursing curriculum of A-B. For their final year, the students transfer to the A-B campus in Philippi, West Virginia, USA to earn their American BSN degree.
A similar partnership also exists between Arellano University and Edith Cowan University (ECU) of Perth, Australia, allowing our international nursing students at the AU Legarda campus to transfer to ECU for their final year to earn an Australian BSN degree.
Nursing students who have completed the first two years of our local BSN curriculum at the AU Legarda, Pasay City and Pasig City campuses are also eligible to transfer to ECU, where they may earn their Australian BSN degree within two years.
