 UNIVERSITY LIBRARYThe University Library comprises the following collections and services: Circulation Unit (foreign books on all fields of interest); Filipiniana Unit (books locally published in the Philippines, books written by Filipino author and books about the Philippines); Periodicals Unit (collection includes journals and magazines in various fields of interest); Reference Unit (collection of reference materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbook, almanac, geographical sources, etc.); Audio-Visual Unit (a collection of audio-visual materials such as CD-ROM, VHS tapes & cassette tapes) and the Graduate School Unit (collection of books for post graduate level together with the thesis collection for reference purposes).
As part of the library system, the adoption of computerized version of card catalog commonly known as OPAC (On-line Public Access catalog) is used by the patrons as a medium of searching the library collection.
TECHNICAL SERVICES
Technical Services is largely responsible for the "health and well-being" of library's collection. Its basic function is to organize the book and non-book collections of the library which are made available through the process of Acquisition and Cataloging and Classification.
ACQUISITION UNIT
The Acquisition Unit is also referred to as the "business center" of the library. It involves the acquisition of library collections and other pertinent library materials based on a well defined collection development policy. It includes the process of ordering, receiving and paying for the acquired materials or arranging when these are received as complimentary, exchange or donations.
READERS SERVICES
Readers Services covers the basic and essential divisions of the University Library. These are the Circulation, Filipiniana, Reference and Audio-Visual, Periodicals and Graduate School Units. Its primary objective is to deliver the right information, to the right person at the right time.
CIRCULATION UNIT
Circulation Unit handles the bulk of the library's collections comprising books of all courses offered by the University. The primary function of this unit is to get materials to the readers as expeditiously as possible upon demand. Records of books lent out to patrons, records of returns, records of overdue, records of reservations and clearances of both faculty and students are also the vital concern of this section. It must also see to it that all materials are in good condition, regularly mended and periodically bound.
FILIPINIANA UNIT
Filipiniana Unit handles all books and other materials including references and vertical files published in the Philippines and those foreign publications whose contents are all about the Philippines. Books that are frequently used in this unit are placed on separate shelves marked as "Reserved" and coded with red cloth tape below the spine. It implements a strict policy on Filipiniana-Reference materials for room use only. The unit also collects a wide array of local ephemeral materials such as brochures, mounted photographs and pamphlets that are useful supplement for research. A rich collection of Rizaliana and rare books are also available for use.
